Hear ye, hear ye! Atomic Tanks 4.0 is now ready for downloading. The
latest version can be found at ye little web pagee
http://atanks.sf.net

This version of Atomic Tanks is focused mostly on fixing bugs
and improving features previously intoduced. However, because of
the number of bug fixes (which I'll detail in a moment) it's recommended
everyone upgrade to this latest version.

Before we get to features, some people have noticed that when using the
Full Screen option on Windows, the mouse cursor is not visible. I'm trying
to fix this, but in the mean time there is a work around. Run Atanks in
normal, windowed mode. Go into Options->Graphics and change the Mouse from
"Default" to "Custom". Go back to the main menu and quit Atanks. Then run
Atanks in full screen mode. The mouse pointer should be visible.

What's new? In this release we have the following:

1. For developers: Added Windows icon, resource file and new Windows
makefile. Also, the Allegro .dll file is included with
the source code to make things easier on the Windows
developers.

2. On the Help and Credits screens, the up and down arrow keys will
scroll through the text. The Spacebar resumes regular scrolling.
The ESC key returns to the main menu.

3. The star "*" appears next to player names on the Player
menu for those using the keyboard to navigate.

4. Some Windows users were experiencing long delays when
switching between screens/menus, this has been fixed.

5. Fixed several bugs which would cause the Windows version
to crash when the AI was aiming.

6. Fast sky and terrain generation should now work on
Windows, if the Windows developer has pthreads installed.

7. Menu and buying screens use common key commands. Enter key
is the same as clicking OK, Space selects an item, arrow
key navigate menus and change values.

8. Using the keyboard now works much more smoothly on the buying screen.

9. The player can use the Z and C keys to switch between weapons
during rounds.

10. Mass Teleport now teleports all tanks, as it should.

11. For developers: "make system" and "make install" will
compile Atanks to be installed on the system, not
locally.

12. Added unicode support to Atanks.
I think Netscape created the font.

13. Fixed bug which would keep Portuguese help file from displaying.

14. Made sure Russian Help and Credits files display properly.

15. The correct weapons file is loaded when a different language is
selected on the Options screen.

16. Fixed several bugs associated with displaying unicode font.

17. Developers: Updated the spec file for RPM building.

18. Added the command line option "--nobackground". This prevents
crashes on some 64-bit machines. It also makes the menu background
appear black instead of green.

19. Russian buttons now appear on the main menu.
Thanks to Sergei for providing these.
And to CtHx for pointing out the proper order.

20. Detailed land is now generated much faster, removing delay
between the buying screen and the combat round.

21. Added German weapons file and German menu text.
Thanks to Roland for providing these.

22. Reduced CPU load when creating detailed land and sky.

23. For developers: Added new TextBlock functions for handling
text files. This replaces LineSeq.

24. Fixed the way rockets work when underground.

25. Fixed some crashes which would happen when the AI aims on
64-bit systems.

26. Money values will show up with comma separators every three
numbers for easier reading during the game.

About text scrolling: I'd suggest faster scroll or autoscrolling after ten or so seconds of idleness.
