I am happy to annouce the 3.0 release of Atomic Tanks. This
has been a long time coming and I like to think that this is
the best Atanks release to date.

What's new and interesting in this release? Well, a few things.
First, for the technical crowd, Atanks has been tested and found
to work with the 4.2.2 Allegro gaming library. We've also
compiled Atanks with the GNU C compiler, version 4.3. There
were some warnings due to increased strictness in this
compiler, but nothing serious.

Okay, developer stuff aside, what's new for people who actually
want to PLAY this game? Here we go...

1. Fog has been completely re-done. Fog is no longer a moving
box that restricts your view on the world. Tanks are
covered (made invisible) when they are not firing. So remember
where your targets are.

2. Fixed bug where medium napalm dropped tremors, not napalm.

3. Removed a lot of old code that isn't used anymore. This
means that as of Atanks 3.0, you can't upgrade from versions
prior to 2.4. If you have a copy of Atanks 2.3 or lower,
you'll need to get 2.4-2.9 and then upgrade to 3.0.

4. The satellite is slightly less violent, making it easier
to survive with no shield.

5. The AI no longer tries to fire lasers at targets below
them, wasting the shot.

7. Updated some of the gloat, revenge and suicide text.

8. Atanks should recover better if graphic settings caused
a crash.

9. When a player dies, the AI will not skip ahead until
all violent deaths have finished. (Thank you, Scott, for
writing this patch.)

10. Updated Portuguese language files, should display better.
(Thanks to Fred for providing these updated files.)

11. Pyeatt fixed a bug that caused floating point calculations.

12. Players can now browse for saved games. There are
now seperate text boxes for game names, depending on if you are
starting a new game or loading an old game.

13. Fixed bug where a team would get credit for winning a round,
even if all their tanks were destroyed.

14. Added kill:die ratio to the player stats at the end of
each game.

15. The AI targeting has been slightly improved. Of note is that
if violent tank deaths are turned on, the AI will prefer to
shoot at targets further away.

That's it. You can grab a copy of Atomic Tanks from our
website at http://atanks.sf.net .
As always, please report bugs, ideas, complains and praise
here on the forums. Crash donations and hate mail can
be sent to jessefrgsmith AT yahoo.ca

After much too long (but in time for Canada Day!), I've packaged up Atanks 3 for Windows.
I've experienced some odd lag issues with it, however, so I would appreciate if anyone who's having trouble with it to please report your computer specs to me. (My main system lags atanks, but my laptop doesn't!)

I apologize for the delay.
